Cassie Hurwitz

ABOUT CASSIE

I’m a writer and editor dedicated to telling stories that inform, inspire, and make readers feel seen.

Right now, I’m producing stories for publications like New York Magazine, The Washington Post, and SELF as well as writing about mental health and chronic illness on my Substack, Spinning Out. Recently, I was an associate editor at Oprah Daily, where I covered a wide range of topics—including women’s health, culture, entertainment, lifestyle, and relationships—and helped shape the brand’s editorial voice. Before that, I worked at Parents Magazine on food, home, holiday, and shopping content, and at Rachael Ray In Season and Reveal, where I wrote about everything from quirky food launches to home décor to ice cream. I’m also a graduate of the Columbia Publishing Course, a six-week intensive program exploring every corner of book, magazine, and digital media.

Before moving to New York, I earned my B.A. from the University of Wisconsin–Madison. During college, I wrote and edited for campus publications like The Daily Cardinal and Moda, and gained professional experience at BRAVA and Michigan Avenue magazines. I also spent a semester studying in London, where I consumed an irresponsible number of scones and traveled across Europe.
